ON THE PATHS OF UNESCO's WORLD HERITAGE




Day 1. Split
Arrival in Split, hotel accommodation and overnight


Day 2: Split - Sibenik - Trogir - Split
Departure towards Sibenik. Sightseeing of the city famous for its cathedral of St. Jacob, which is on UNESCO's List of World Heritage since 2001. The city has preserved its medieval old center full of small cobbled streets and steps, dominated by a beautiful fortress. Return to Trogir with a stop in Primošten (candidate for the UNESCO heritage list). Visit to Trogir, small medieval town listed in the UNESCO's List of World Heritage since 1997. On the corner of one of its many streets there is a beautiful cathedral of St. Lawrence. Return to Split. Overnight stay.


Day 3: Split - Plitvice - Split
This day is reserved for discovering the natural phenomenon, the Plitvice Lakes. Sixteen lakes connected with 92 waterfalls create a beautiful ambience. Plitvice have been declared a national park in 1949 and they are under the protection of Unesco since 1979. This national park is a home to more than 150 species of birds and mammals such as wolves and bears. Return to Split. Overnight stay.


Day 4: Split - Mostar
Departure to the ancient city of Split, the result 1,700 years of construction and renovation. It is one of the most important administrative, historical and religious centers of Croatia. The palace of Emperor Diocletian (on UNESCO's List of World Heritage) has been built during the 3rd century, and today today it represents the heart of the city. The visit includes the cathedral and Peristyle. Free time and departure to a country where cultures and religions mingled over the centuries. Arrival in Mostar. Accommodation at the hotel. Overnight stay.


Day 5: Mostar – Počitelj – Ston - Dubrovnik
Mostar is a historic city on the border of the Ottoman Empire which developed in the 15th and 16th century and during the Austro-Hungarian rule in the 19th and 20th century. Mostar is distinguished by its turkish houses and the bridge "Stari most" which represents the symbol of the city, demolished in 1990 and rebuilt in 2004. Since 2005 the town was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List. Continuation of the trip with a stop in a small town Počitelj located 20 kilometers South of Mostar. Počitelj has retained its oriental character almost entirely due to its large mosque with a minaret. We drive the coastal road and stop in Ston, which has retained its beautiful buildings and walls in spite of the earthquake in 1996. (candidate for UNESCO World Heritage List).


Day 6: Dubrovnik
This day is reserved for sightseeing of the town on the list of protected cultural heritage by UNESCO. A visit to Franciscan monastery with the oldest pharmacy in Europe, dating from 1317, to Dominican monastery and paintings of great value. Then you pass by the Cathedral of St. Blaise, whose baroque facade reminiscent of the churches in Rome, Town Clock and Roland pole which represents a symbol of independence. Walk to other important places in the city. Free afternoon for exploring the city. Overnight in Dubrovnik. The programe implies performance of "Klape" - polyphonic singing "a cappella" (without music instruments), also included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.


Day 7: Dubrovnik - Perast - Kotor - Dubrovnik
Discovering the natural beauties of the Montenegrin coast. After the region Župa Dubrovačka and Konavle, we pass by the town of Risan and arrive to Perast. Embarking the small boats and visit the island of Our Lady of the Rocks - an artificial island made by the locals from Perast in the 15th century. Departure towards Kotor - a city on the UNESCO's list since 1979. After orientational sightseeing of the city we continue our journey to Dubrovnik. A short trip by ferry will shorten our return. Overnight in Dubrovnik.


Day 8: Dubrovnik
Departure from the Dubrovnik airport.
